Ghana’s most versatile radio station, Happy 98.9 FM is set to host yet another riveting COVID-19 conversation with Ghana’s Ambassador to Italy, H.E Mrs. Eudoria Quartey Koranteng.
After successfully hosting an educative COVID-19 conversation with Ghana’s Ambassador to China and the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana to access the Chinese situation, it is now time to assess the welfare of Ghanaians and the situation in Italy after the COVID-19 pandemic took hold of the ‘holy’ country.
The virtual conversation dubbed ‘COVID-19 in Europe: Sharing the Italy Experience’, will be aired on e.TV Ghana, Happy 98.9FM and GTV on the 9th of June,2020 at 8:00am.
After China confirmed its first coronavirus cases, some European countries were greatly hit by the virus. One of such countries was Italy. The country saw a surge in the number of coronavirus cases and its related deaths within a few weeks. The number of deaths increased from 366 on 8th March to more than 5,400 in about three weeks.
The spread of the disease in Italy caused a nation-wide lockdown coupled with early measures such as the closing of educational facilities.
While we have been served with a great deal of credible news on Italy, some false news, especially about the fate of Ghanaians living in the country still linger.
Acknowledging the importance of serving listeners with credible news, GMABC is set to hold this COVID-19 conversation with Ghana’s Ambassador to Italy, an authoritative source who will enlighten Ghanaians on measures taken by the Embassy to control the COVID-19 situation in Italy and the way forward.
The Programmes Manager of Happy FM, Emmanuel Akrumah, stresses the importance of the virtual COVID-19 conversation with H.E Mrs Eudoria Quartey Koranteng when he states: “We’ve all seen and heard from the Tutsis and Hutus the power of the media. The media being a double-edged sword can also be used for good and clear doubts. Our interaction with the Ghanaian ambassador to Italy will help enlighten us and allay fears we may have about the safety of Ghanaians living in Italy.
As a media brand, Happy FM understands the need for factual information, because the proliferation of new media forms has increased misinformation, and going to the very root of pertinent issues of National concern is what brand Happy 98.9 FM stands for ” he stated.
The virtual conversation will be moderated by Happy FM’s Raymond Nyamador and GTV’s Abdul Hayi Moomen.
