INTRO
African Legends Night is a musical concert held annually with the aim of recognizing and celebrating African musicians who are considered living legends.
The event has over the years celebrated living legends such as Hugh Masekela of South Africa, Femi Kuti of Nigeria and Ghanaian legends like Amakye Dede, George Darko, Ofie and Ben Brako, Freddy Meiway and Yvonne Chaka Chaka. In the last edition, Kojo Antwi, Awilo Longomba and 2Face Idibia joined the living legends of the African Legends Night.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Africa has produced great music acts. From centuries to now, the continent has been blessed with iconic musicians of different genres that are relevant to the African culture.
Ghana’s history can’t be celebrated without music. It is often said that before and during colonial days, music was used as a powerful tool of communication that connects to society.
Ghana’s music has experienced many styles from traditional music to Highlife which many believe gave birth to Hiplife. It is believed that the phases in the Ghanaian music scene have been due to the cosmopolitan geographic position in the country.
Our music has come a long way and it is in the right order to celebrate. It is in this regard that African Legends Night event was put together to celebrate music legends that have contributed to the industry in Ghana and in Africa as a whole.
STRATEGY
We developed a strategy to make this event a success by setting all the necessary channels through which publicity shall be made. We relied on the different media platforms to promote the event.
As part of publicity and execution strategy, we also developed a website to back the publicity and also serve as one of the media through which information can be disseminated and also as an avenue to purchase tickets.
MEASURABLE OUTCOMES
Year on year, ALN has grown to become one of the most prestigious events in the country which is known to keep the African music legends and their music living on.
